TIPS & TRICKS FOR WEDDING DAYS

Here you'll find some (hopefully) helpful tips and tricks that I've learned over the years! Having a wedding day run as smoothly as possible is always a priority. Always reach out to your vendors for any questions or guidance. We are here for you, 100% of the way!

Officiant

..............................

Your Officiant is of top tier importance for your wedding day. After all, they're the ones who are marrying you - legally, haha. As your photographer, I 100% ask every Officiant the day of one very important question, and I think every couple should also be asking this: When is the first kiss? Before or after signing the marriage license? When I got married, it was very important to me that we do our first kiss AFTER signing the marriage license because then thats our first "official kiss" as husband & wife. So ask - does your Officiant propose it being done before or after the signing.
My second trick with the Officiant (and this is only if they're using a microphone) is to ask them to not pass the microphone back and forth between them reading pre-made vows and you as a bride or groom repeating. I know it seems SO silly to even mention it, but encourage your Officiant to hold the microphone in front of who is repeating the vows the whole time. Your guests don't need to hear the Officiant saying the vows. Just you two. So with them softly saying them for you to repeat, its only your voice coming through the speakers. Again, sounds silly. But its crazy the difference it makes.

Getting Ready details
................................

One super duper kind thing to do for your getting ready photos is to build a little kit for your photographer and videographer. This kit will contain any jewellery for the day, your wedding bands, perfumes/colognes, save the date and invitations, fabric or ribbon that matches the wedding colours, champagne & flutes, shoes, bowties or ties, pocket squares, extra flowers from florist, and any other significant item or representation of you two as a couple. Have a member of the wedding party know where this kit is at all times & it will make capturing the little details even faster!

Feeding your vendors
..............................

This one may sound selfish - but hear me out. When you enter your reception, whether you go right into your first dance or you sit down to eat - make sure your photographers & videographers ALSO are served at the same time as you newly weds & your wedding party. Why? Because we are normally the last ones to get served. It's completely natural for a venue to think to serve guests first. However, by the time your vendors get their food, typically the head table & first few tables actually are wrapping up their meals & are ready to start speeches. Ultimately leaving us to stop eating and continue working. And there have been times that upon returning to my table after speeches, my plate has been cleared & the staff are already shifting to serve desserts. So to keep things running smoothly & no moments lost - let the photographers & videographers eat at the same time. Chat with your venue or wedding planner / day of planner.
